From a small age I have always enjoyed drawing and painting. When I was in primary school my favourite subject was Art. I had a great Art teacher and our lessons were always fun and interesting. I’m sure you all know that I enjoy drawing cars the most; I have shown you a few of my paintings on the blog already.

I love looking around me and finding interesting things, it helps keep my head creative and full of ideas. Even though my desk at school is very messy, it is full of different things.

I always read about different styles of art in the library and on the internet. Recently, I have become interested in “Graffiti”. You can see Graffiti all around us, the words and drawings scribbled on walls and on buildings.

Graffiti is a very cool style of art, but you must never break the law. Spraying and painting on walls and buildings is against the law. There are many ways to practise Graffiti without breaking the law.  

Draw on things that belong to YOU! For example, your notebook, any piece of paper and on the computer. Just because you like it, doesn't mean it is okay to draw on someone’s wall!

When I grow up…

Many years ago when I was a small boy, I had big dreams. I loved space, and I dreamed that one day I could be an astronaut and walk in space. I wanted to see the moon and the stars and explore the galaxy. I read a lot of books about space and I was amazed by the bright colours and beautiful shapes. But, I couldn’t be an astronaut because I get travel sick very easily, so I don’t think I would be very good in a spaceship. What do you want to be when you grow up?

I know a lot of students want to become a fashion designer when they grow up. Everyone wears clothes every day and each piece of clothing you wear was designed by someone. The socks on your feet and the hat on your head all started as a drawing on a piece of paper.

To become a fashion designer you need to be:

• ·         Creative
• ·         Good at drawing
• ·         Good with colours
• ·         Good with fabric
• ·         Have a good knowledge of clothes
• ·         Very hard working!

It is not easy to be a fashion designer, and you need to do a lot of work. But never stop dreaming! If you believe in yourself, then you can do it!

What can I do now?

There are many things you can do to help you become a fashion designer.

• ·         Keep thinking of new clothes.
• ·         Keep a sketch book of all your drawings, good or bad!
• ·         Look at different clothes, in books, on the internet, in shops, and all around you.
• ·         Ask other people to look at your drawings, they will tell you if you can do better.
• ·         Practise in your free time.
• ·         Never give up!

You can start to be a fashion designer by entering this month’s competition. The competition is to design your own school uniform! Here are some examples I have designed. If you are from Upper Primary, you must write about your uniform to win! 

Think about what colours and shapes you can use! Enter the competition by the 9^th April 2014 for a chance to win a prize. Good luck!

Mr. Chapman's Chinese New Year!

Hello everyone and “Gong Hei Fat Choi!” I wish everyone good luck and health for the year of the horse! I hope you all enjoyed your holiday and I can’t wait to hear what you did in your free time.

During my holiday I did a lot of things. Do you remember my new hobby? Radio Control Cars! The first thing I did in my holiday was make a new a shell for my car. This car is called a “Nissan Skyline GTR R32” for people that like cars, they will know that this is a very fast car.

The shell starts off with no colour; I decided to paint the car with a “Gun Metal” colour. Do you like the colour? It took me two hours to finish painting the car.

After I painted the car, I put some lights inside the car to make it look like a real car. I think it looks really cool. What do you think?

After I finished making the car, I drove my real car to a park in Kowloon. Do you remember this park? This park is called “Jordan Valley Park” and it is the park we went to for a Christmas Picnic two years ago. I was very interested with the track for radio controlled cars.

The last day of my holiday I went to a snooker club. Snooker is a sport where people use sticks called “cues” to hit the white ball against other coloured balls to try and get it in to the pockets. Have you played this sport before? I thought it was a lot of fun.

How to Make a Simple Snowman Decoration

Did you know that lolly sticks are not just for ice lollies? We can use them for many things. Lolly sticks are great for arts and crafts activities; especially when it is Christmas.

This snowman is simple, easy and fun to make. If you want to make one just like this, all you have to do is follow the steps below. Are you ready?

 

What do you need?

 

7 lolly sticks

Some coloured paper ~ Black

                                           White

                                            Red

                                            Orange

                                            Yellow

Two googly eyes

Some string

Some sellotape

Some glue

A pair of scissors

 

Steps

 

1. Glue six lolly sticks together.

 

 

2. Glue the last lolly stick diagonally across the top of the other lolly sticks.

 

 

 

3. Wait for the glue to dry.

 

4. Paint the bottom part of your lolly sticks (below the diagonal lolly stick) in white. This will be your snowman’s face.

 

 

5. Paint the top part of your lolly sticks (Above the diagonal lolly stick) in black. This will be your snowman’s hat.

 

 

6. Use your coloured paper to cut out shapes for the snowman’s nose and mouth.

7. Use your coloured paper to cut out shapes for the hat ribbon and star.

 

 

8. Stick your shapes on to the lolly sticks to make your snowman.

 

9. Glue your googly eyes onto your snowman so that he can see. (If you don’t have any googly eyes then you can use black and white paper circles.)

 

 

10. Sellotape the two ends of your sting to the back of your snowman so that you can hang him up.

A New Hobby

When I was a little boy I was really interested with cars. I always drew cars when I had spare time and I loved to collect model cars. Now I am older I still love to collect and draw cars. Nothing has changed. Maybe I am still a little boy.

Last week my brother introduced me to a new hobby, radio controlled cars. It is a very popular hobby and some students in this school may have their own RC cars. It is a very expensive toy, so you will have to save a lot of money to buy one.

I bought a car that I had to build myself. Building the car was very enjoyable and it was a little difficult. Students may need help from their parents to build the car. It took me a day to build the car. At the end of the day I was able to drive the car around my house. It is a lot of fun to drive; I might bring the car in to school one day to let you drive it in the covered playground!

Here are some more pictures of my car. But there is something missing from my car, can you guess what it is?

I have not painted the car yet! I do not know what colour to use, do you have any ideas?

Hi everyone! My name is Ms Charlotte. I come from a city called Lancaster in England. I have a mum called Caroline, a dad called Joe and a brother called Luke.

My mum and dad both live in England, my mum works in an office and my dad is also a teacher. My brother also works in Hong Kong like me. It is very nice to have a family member in Hong Kong.  Here is a picture of my mum, dad and brother.

For the past three years I have lived with my friends at university. This is a picture of me and my 9 housemates.  I loved living with my friends, we always had lots of fun and we loved to dress up.
