How to Make a Simple Snowman Decoration

Did you know that lolly sticks are not just for ice lollies? We can use them for many things. Lolly sticks are great for arts and crafts activities; especially when it is Christmas.

You don’t believe me? Well, take a look here.

This snowman is simple, easy and fun to make. If you want to make one just like this, all you have to do is follow the steps below. Are you ready?

What do you need?

7 lolly sticks
Some coloured paper ~ Black
                                           White
                                            Red
                                            Orange
                                            Yellow
Two googly eyes
Some string
Some sellotape
Some glue
A pair of scissors

Steps

1. Glue six lolly sticks together.

2. Glue the last lolly stick diagonally across the top of the other lolly sticks.

3. Wait for the glue to dry.

4. Paint the bottom part of your lolly sticks (below the diagonal lolly stick) in white. This will be your snowman’s face.

5. Paint the top part of your lolly sticks (Above the diagonal lolly stick) in black. This will be your snowman’s hat.

6. Use your coloured paper to cut out shapes for the snowman’s nose and mouth.
7. Use your coloured paper to cut out shapes for the hat ribbon and star.

8. Stick your shapes on to the lolly sticks to make your snowman.

9. Glue your googly eyes onto your snowman so that he can see. (If you don’t have any googly eyes then you can use black and white paper circles.)

10. Sellotape the two ends of your sting to the back of your snowman so that you can hang him up.

See I told you that it was easy!
You don’t have to make a snowman. You can make anything you like. Take a look at the designs below. Which one do you want to try?

You could try making an angel.

Or, you could try making a sledge.

Here are some simple snowmen you could use as bookmarks.

These are great gifts to make for your family or friends.

A New Hobby

When I was a little boy I was really interested with cars. I always drew cars when I had spare time and I loved to collect model cars. Now I am older I still love to collect and draw cars. Nothing has changed. Maybe I am still a little boy.

Last week my brother introduced me to a new hobby, radio controlled cars. It is a very popular hobby and some students in this school may have their own RC cars. It is a very expensive toy, so you will have to save a lot of money to buy one.

I bought a car that I had to build myself. Building the car was very enjoyable and it was a little difficult. Students may need help from their parents to build the car. It took me a day to build the car. At the end of the day I was able to drive the car around my house. It is a lot of fun to drive; I might bring the car in to school one day to let you drive it in the covered playground!

Here are some more pictures of my car. But there is something missing from my car, can you guess what it is?

I have not painted the car yet! I do not know what colour to use, do you have any ideas?

If you want to help, you can ask Mr. Chapman for a colouring worksheet to design the car. I will pick the best design and the winners will get a prize!!!!

Primary 6 Research Ancient Times!

Primary 6 are reading a book about ancient times in their lessons. We asked them to choose one ancient time from the book to research. Here are some of the best answers.

Ancient China:

“These people made the compass, fireworks, paper scrolls and the Great Wall” (Ann Tsoi, 6C).

“I would not like to travel to this time because Ancient China was struggling and the king was silly and selfish” (Ann Tsoi, 6C).

“I would like to travel to this time because I like to eat dumplings” (Adrian Chia, 6C).

Ancient Egypt:

“They made the pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx. They ate bread, fish, meat and fowl” (Charlie Kwong, 6C).

Welcome back everyone!

I hope you all had a

great Easter holidays. I am very happy to be back at school, and I hope you are too! Did you go anywhere or do anything exciting? I travelled to Osaka, in Japan. It was a beautiful place, full of fun and interesting places. I saw some beautiful flowers, a big castle and some amazing temples.

During my stay in Osaka I also made my own “Cup Noodle”. I went to the “Cup Noodle” museum where they displayed hundreds of different “Cup Noodles”. After looking inside the factory, I went to their factory, where I could create my own “Cup Noodle”.

First, they gave me an empty cup. I then used some marker pens to design and colour my cup. Do you think it looks pretty?

After designing the cup, I put the noodles inside the cup.

I choose the “Seafood” flavour for my noodles and I choose four different ingredients to go inside.

After selecting the ingredients, they helped me put a lid on top.

Then they put my “Cup Noodle” in a special machine that wraps it up inside plastic to make it safe.

This is my finished “Cup Noodle”! I still haven’t eaten it yet. I had a lot of fun making my own “Cup Noodle”; I hope you get the chance to make one for yourself too!

What would you draw on the outside of your “Cup Noodle”?
