Miss Amy Tries a New Sport


An ice hockey match

I had a lovely time in the Christmas holidays. I went back to England for a few days. Whilst I was there, I went to visit my friend Mel who loves ice hockey. We went to watch an ice hockey match. We sat right at the front. The match was very exciting and everyone in the crowd was shouting. Our favourite team won, so we were very pleased.
After the match, Mel asked if I wanted to try playing ice hockey myself. I thought it would be fun so I decided to try it. I had to borrow hockey kit because I didn’t have my own. It was very smelly! I was quite scared because I am not very good at ice-skating so I thought I might fall over.

Once I was on the ice I really enjoyed playing ice hockey. The other players were very friendly and helped me a lot.

    I think ice hockey is a very difficult and dangerous sport. A few of our students are good at ice skating. I wonder if they are also interested in ice hockey. Perhaps you can ask them when you see them at school.

    I can ice skate, so I think ice hockey is suitable for me.I will try it but I know ice hockey is more difficult than ice skating, right?

      That's an interesting question, Aurum. I don't know if ice hockey is harder than ice skating. Maybe it is because you have to play hockey at the same time as skating. Let me know what you think if you try it.

      Hello Terry, thanks for your post. I went to Vietnam with my friend this Chinese New Year. We saw lots of lanterns and other decorations for the Lunar New Year. How did you celebrate?

    Hello everybody and thank you for all your comments and New Year wishes! I am very excited to teach you all again after the holidays and I hope you have enjoyed your time off.

    I was very interested to hear all about your favourite sports. It sounds like some of you are very athletic! I think Angel is very brave for joining a new team.

    Some of you asked if I liked any other sports. I love to try new sports and I also like basketball. I have never played volleyball before but I would love to try it some time! Ryan asked if I liked playing football. Football is fun, but I bet you are much better at it than me, Ryan!

    Some students also asked if ice hockey is difficult. It is quite hard and I have to admit that I fell on my face! Remember, if you try a dangerous sport like ice hockey, you have to use the right safety equipment.
