Many years ago when I was a small boy, I had big dreams. I
loved space, and I dreamed that one day I could be an astronaut and walk in
space. I wanted to see the moon and the stars and explore the galaxy. I read a
lot of books about space and I was amazed by the bright colours and beautiful
shapes. But, I couldn’t be an astronaut because I get travel sick very easily,
so I don’t think I would be very good in a spaceship. What do you want to be
when you grow up?
I know a lot of students want to become a fashion designer
when they grow up. Everyone wears clothes every day and each piece of clothing
you wear was designed by someone. The socks on your feet and the hat on your
head all started as a drawing on a piece of paper.
To become a fashion designer you need to be:
- · Creative
- · Good at drawing
- · Good with colours
- · Good with fabric
- · Have a good knowledge of clothes
- · Very hard working!
It is not easy to be a fashion designer, and you need to do
a lot of work. But never stop dreaming! If you believe in yourself, then you
can do it!
What can I do now?
There are many things you can do to help you become a
fashion designer.
- · Keep thinking of new clothes.
- · Keep a sketch book of all your drawings, good or bad!
- · Look at different clothes, in books, on the internet, in shops, and all around you.
- · Ask other people to look at your drawings, they will tell you if you can do better.
- · Practise in your free time.
- · Never give up!
You can start to be a fashion designer by entering this
month’s competition. The competition is to design your own school uniform! Here are some examples I have designed. If you are from Upper Primary, you must write about your uniform to win!
Think about what colours and shapes you can use! Enter the competition by the 9th
April 2014 for a chance to win a prize. Good luck!
We are looking for something special! You can be as crazy as you want!
Remember to leave me a comment! Tell me what you want to be
when you grow up!
